Quality Assistant
We are currently recruiting for a Quality Assistant who’s key role will be to support the site Quality & Food Safety Management System in compliance with all Legal and Customer requirements, and drive continuous improvement initiatives and a strong food safety culture across the site.
Reporting to: Quality Manager/Head of Operations
Responsible to: Directors
General Duties
- Management of all microbiological & chemical sampling on site
- Validation & filing of certificate of analysis reports from the Laboratory
- Verification of daily quality & traceability records from production
- Manage the shelf-life analysis schedule
- Manage the environment management schedule i.e. swabs
- Maintain & create all finished product & process specifications on site
- Conduct internal audits as per schedule
- Conduct quality exercises as per schedule e.g. traceability, mass balance
- Complete annual reviews of suppliers, specifications and risk assessments
- Promote & implement a positive food safety culture, leading by example
- Execute the sites food safety training programme & maintain all records
- Conduct Induction Training & competency reviews for new employees
- Update customer quality & information portals when required
- Investigate non-conformances with raw materials & finished goods
- Manage the calibration of testing equipment for each production line
- Assist in the preparation & hosting of customer & third-party audits
- Participate in NPD and artwork approval processes
- Manage Documentation Control of the food safety quality mgt system
Please be advised that this is not an exhaustive list of duties for the role and changes may occur. This role will require flexibility and adaption to new and changing situations on an ongoing basis.
Eligibility Criteria
- Qualification in a recognised food science or quality discipline
- Previous experience in the food industry at quality assurance level
- Familiar with HACCP, food industry legislation & GFSI standards
- Knowledge of BRCGS Certification Programme
- Proficient in Microsoft Office/quality management systems
- Highly motivated individual with a disciplined approach
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Excellent attention to detail & organisational skills
